François Maréchal realizes his desire to work with clay with Jean Linard. He abandons his first job to follow the lessons of Jean Lerat. He turns stoneware and fires with wood, then specializes in gas fired raku.

This practice allows him more spontaneity and rapid experimentation. With his new wood-fired oven, he returns to high temperatures and creates vases and sculptures that highlight the interplay of materials, writings and reliefs. He draws his pieces, builds them by assembling plates, engraves them, encrusts sands, slips them lightly. Between geometric rigor and organic sensuality, his works testify to an accomplished aesthetic research.
