You don't know how to organize your day or your weekend in Bourges? Better yet, you have decided to ENJOY and put down your suitcases for the whole week in the capital of Berry and its surroundings. To help you see things more clearly and organize your time as best as possible, we give you some ideas!

Bourges in 1 day: straight to the point!

Day 1

  • Let's be clear: visiting Bourges in one day is short. So let's cut to the chase and start with the Saint-Etienne Cathedral in Bourges, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is, whatever happens, a must-see.
  • Give yourself a breath of fresh air by going to the Marsh of Bourges. A stroll along the typical market gardens of Bourges, with 135 hectares, you have plenty to do! You can have lunch or dinner in one of the two restaurants there.

  • Then take the streets of the historic heart: half-timbered, mansions, cobbled streets and small stairs... Your walk will take you to the Palais Jacques Cœur, home of the illustrious character of the XNUMXth century. End your day with the Nuits Lumière scenography, blue atmosphere guaranteed! To ensure you don't miss anything or get (too) lost, our Tourist Office offers maps and/or an application to serve as your guide.

Bourges in 1 weekend: the essential is there!

Day 2

Do not hesitate to push the doors of museums, they trace the history and culture of the city. There is something for everyone! The proof is that the Maison des Musées opened its doors in 2023, at the foot of the Cathedral.
At the Natural History Museum, discover a permanent exhibition on the fascinating world of bats. The Museum of Resistance and Deportation traces the entire history of Cher during the Second World War. If you like contemporary art, the Transpalette and La Box (at the École Nationale Supérieure d'Art) will delight you.

Take the time to relax in two of our gardens : the Archbishop's Garden, located at the foot of the cathedral and the Prés-Fichaux Garden, labeled a Remarkable Garden, no less!

Bourges in 1 week: get out of town!

Day 3 - Worth the trip

We can only advise you to rent bikes and enjoy the Heart of France – Canal de Berry à Vélo. It will take you from Bourges town center to Mehun-sur-Yevre. To discover: the Charles VII Tower and its remains, the Gardens of Duke Jean de Berry, the Pillivuyt porcelain factory or the Porcelain Pole.

Day 4 - From the vineyard to the castle

Nearby, the AOC vineyard of Menetou-Salon is just waiting to be tasted and its castle to be visited. The cellars will gladly open their doors to you for a tasting, particularly during Open Cellar Days.

Day 5 - An atypical village

A few kilometers north of Bourges, here is another capital: that of ceramics, La Borne! We advise you to stroll through this small village, from workshop to workshop. Who knows, you might find your next decorative object or coffee service! If you want, you can even be introduced to pottery during a workshop.

Day 6 - Nature side

Walk in the forest, hikes in the countryside, visit to the garden labeled Remarkable Garden with that of Jussy Castle. In short, a good way to end the week.

Day 7 - Shopping!

This last day could be placed under the sign of shopping, in order to bring back a little something from Berry and its capital. We don't push you to consume, but you'll see, you won't resist...

We are coming for 4 days from December 28 to 31. We are around 30 including 4 children and would like to visit your city. Could we have some advice because winter is more complicated than summer and not everything is open? Can we find a guide for a visit to the city? Thanks in advance
