Like in a film, La Borne represents the charming little village, enveloped in forests with few souls, there are 200 inhabitants. But make no mistake, the village of La Borne is recognized as a village of potters with international influence. Its ideal position a few kilometers from Bourges, along the Route Jacques Cœur and (above all) shared between two renowned vineyards: Menetou-Salon and Sancerre. We take you on a weekend under the sign of the traditions of ceramics.

Day 1: Discover, admire and enjoy the unique atmosphere

Start by putting your car, your luggage in your charming guest room, and go discover the La Borne Contemporary Ceramics Center. Take the step of the various museums without forgetting to visit the workshops of the many potters, or even the art galleries. Meet the pottery artists and craftsmen who have turned their passion into a profession. A real know-how to discover, you may be lucky enough to come across the many events that take place there throughout the year. A certainty: the total change of scenery with this mixture of earth and ceramics that we discover while strolling in the small flowery alleys. And if you are really impregnated, why not let yourself be tempted by a pottery course.

Obviously, the day passed, it is time for dinner! Here again, the village of La Borne will surprise you with its two quality restaurants: L'Épicerie, restaurant and grocery store and Le Kilometer, bar and restaurant.

Suggestions for B&Bs:

Le Fairy Lake in Henrichemont, restored residence of the 16nd century which has kept the charm of the legend of Lac aux Fées;
Le 16, charming guest house in Berry ;
Boisbelle, bed and breakfast in the strong country of Haut Berry, in a typical Berry style.

Day 2: The surroundings that are worth a look

Speaking of recognized know-how, how not to mention the wine of Menetou-Salon! About twenty kilometers from Bourges, come and taste this AOC in one of the many cellars in the heart of the vineyard. The restaurant C'heu l'Zib, a veritable institution of the department, will offer the same service in a family atmosphere! The Château de Menetou-Salon offers a tour of the estate with tasting. Former home of Jacques Coeur, this neo-Gothic castle is an essential stop on the road of the same name!
